Dubai Creek is one of the must-visit destinations on your luxury travel in Dubai. It is a seawater creek that is situated in the heart of Dubai and flowing between Bur Dubai and Deira districts, is where trade with the outside world began for the emirate more than a century ago

Brief foreword about the creek

Despite the record-breaking landmarks comprising high-rise buildings and entertainment venues across the city, this natural seawater creek stands as the real identity of Dubai and is a living illustration of the country’s long-standing trading tradition.

Since ancient times, the Dubai Creek has served as a safe and significant harbor for ships heading towards the ports of the Arabian Gulf region.

Fishing was another essential industry back then, and it was centered along the creek which had shallow, warm waters that supported numerous types of marine life. Dhows, or Arabic sailing boats, were used for fishing purposes and they were often built on the creek’s shore area.

In 1955, the city decided to dredge some of the shallow areas in Dubai Creek, build breakwaters, and develop its beach in order to expand the area. Apparently, its expansion became instrumental in positioning Dubai as one of the Middle East’s major port cities

The growth of giant ports in the emirate has not diminished the Creek's importance, as it remains vital for regional traders, and is a vibrant reminder of Dubai's development into a commercial hub.

Now the creek is one of the must-visit destinations for travellers who visit Dubai whether it is for luxury travel or immersing oneself into the traditional Arabic culture
